Lubomír Metnar

Lubomír Metnar was born in Olomouc and spent most of his life in the Moravian-Silesian Region. After graduating from a higher police school, he worked for a number of years for the Police of the Czech Republic, namely its criminal and investigation departments. Subsequently, he studied economics, business and services at the University of Ostrava, adding managerial and economic skills to his professional expertise. After leaving the police, he worked in the private sector, among others as a security director at Vítkovice, a. s. He returned to the state administration as Deputy Interior Minister for internal Security. Between 2017 and 2018 he was the Interior Minister and then from 2018 to 2021 Minister of Defence, focusing on modernising the army and strengthening defence cooperation with allies. Since 2021, he has been a Member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic for the ANO 2011 movement and served as chairman of the Defence Committee.
