Jeroným Tejc
Minister of Justice
Jeroným Tejc was born in Brno, where he lived until he was thirty. He has been married since 2001, has one daughter (2003) and currently lives in Prague. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University, where he received his JUDr. degree. Immediately after graduation he started working as a trainee lawyer, passed the bar exam in 2004 and practised law from 2005 to 2012, when he decided to suspend his practice. He was a member of the ČSSD political party from 1997 to 2017 and is now without political affiliation. 2002-2006
he was a councillor of the Statutory City of Brno, gaining experience in the functioning of local government and management of joint stock companies. Between 2006 and 2017, he was elected to the Parliament three times. He chaired the BIS Audit Committee, the Mandate and Immunity Committee, the Constitutional Law Committee, the Economic and Security Committee and he presided over the Parliamentary Club. From 2018 to 2021, he served as a political and later professional deputy at the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic. Since 2022, he has been Deputy Director General of the Security Corps - Prison Service of the Czech Republic. As a private individual, he holds an NSA Confidential certificate.
In his spare time he enjoys hiking. He speaks English.
