Jaromír Zůna

Jaromír Zůna has been a professional soldier since 1980. During his military career, he has held top positions at the tactical, operational and strategic levels of command and control of the Czech Army, NATO and in foreign operations, including the position of the First Deputy of the Czech Army National Defence Staff. He served as Commander of the Training Command - Military Academy Vyškov, worked at the Logistics Directorate in Stará Boleslav and in the Support Section of the Ministry of Defence in Prague. Some of the milestones in his military career include his participation as the only member of the Czech Armed Forces at the Washington Treaty signing ceremony and as the first member of the Czech Armed Forces serving as a liason officer in the U.S. Army at the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (U.S. TRADOC). He has completed four levels of training at U.S. military schools under the IMET program and has held senior positions in NATO command structures (NATO JFTC) and others. The main areas of expertise he has conceptually pursued throughout his career in both command and staff roles for which he has been responsible, included personnel training, military education, military doctrine, military concept development, logistics, health care, KIS, asset management and acquisitions, defence planning, NATO integration, international activities of the Czech Armed Forces and other. He was one of the main creators and promoters of the transformation of the personnel training system and the transformation of military education in connection with the professionalisation of the Czech Armed Forces.
