Boris Šťastný
Minister of Sport, Prevention and Health
Boris Št'astný is a Czech politician, physician and health and social care manager, founder of the largest network of health care institutions providing geriatric and Alzheimer patient care in the Czech Republic.
In the public sector, he previously served as an advisor to the President of the Czech Republic, a Member of Parliament, a councillor and a health expert; he became known, among other things, as a long-time campaigner for the protection of non-smokers and a sponsor of a legislative change that introduced mandatory electronic prescriptions (eRecipe) in the Czech Republic.
As a legislator, he was involved in the creation and amendment of a number of health reform laws, such as the Health Services Act, the Specific Health Services Act, the Public Health Insurance Act, the Act on Protection of Health from the Harmful Effects of Addictive Substances and the Medicines Act. In October 2022, he was awarded the Medal of Merit of the First Degree by the President of the Republic.
He is interested in sports, cynology and information technology.
He is married with two grown children. He speaks English, German and Serbo-Croatian.
