The Prime Minister has met with the Federal Chancellor of Austria Werner Faymann
On Thursday 31 July 2014 Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka received a visit by the Federal Chancellor of Austria Werner Faymann. They discussed the development of cross-border transport infrastructure and the modernisation of rail links. Other topic of the meeting was enhancing Czech-Austrian intergovernmental relations at the intergovernmental and regional level.

The Czech Republic has joined the next stage of EU sanctions against Russia
On Tuesday 29 July the European Union adopted tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation. The new sanctions are based on the measures recommended in the conclusions of the extraordinary European Council meeting in July and are aimed particularly at trade in military goods and restrictions on the financing of the Russian economy.

The Prime Minister has attended a reception to mark the end of the term of office of the American Ambassador in the Czech Republic
On Wednesday 23 July 2014 the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka and other ministers attended a reception in the residence of the American Ambassador. The meeting was held to mark the end of Norman Eisen’s diplomatic mission in the Czech Republic. The American Embassy was visited by some important political, cultural and social figures from the Czech Republic.

Prime Minister Sobotka meets Tillich, the Minister-President of Saxony
On Thursday 17 July 2014 Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met with the Minister-President of the Free State of Saxony, Stanislaw Tillich. In particular they discussed the development of cross-border transport infrastructure, the intensifying of police cooperation and the use of European funds.

Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka in talks with top EU leaders at the extraordinary European Council meeting
On Wednesday 16 July the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka and the prime ministers and presidents of European Union member states attended an extraordinary European Council meeting in Brussels. The EU representatives EU particularly discussed filling key positions in the EU and the development of the situation in Ukraine.

On Monday 14 July 2014 the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka attended a reception held to mark the National Holiday of the French Republic to commemorate the Storming of the Bastille. The French Embassy in Prague held a reception, which was attended by representatives of the Czech ministries, the diplomatic corps and the French community in the Czech Republic.

The representatives of the Danube Region Strategy adopted a declaration on energy security in Prague
The representatives of the member states of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region met in Prague on Wednesday, 9 July 2014, within the meeting of the Steering Group of the Priority Area “to encourage more sustainable energy”. During the meeting in the Hrzánský Palace were discussed current energy challenges of the Danube Region. The participants endorsed a common declaration responding to the current issues of energy security.

Prime Minister Sobotka Meets Bavarian Minister-President Horst Seehofer
Czech Premier Bohuslav Sobotka met with Minister-President of the Free State of Bavaria Horst Seehofer on 3 July 2014 to discuss cooperation in such areas as high technologies, research and development, and cultural exchange. The two officials signed a declaration on cooperation between their respective education ministries.
