Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka has accepted an invitation from US President Barack Obama to attend a summit on the Islamic State, terrorism and violent extremism in New York on 29 September 2015. The summit will be held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

The prime ministers of the countries of the Visegrad Group approved a joint declaration regarding migration

On Friday, 4 September, an extraordinary summit of the prime ministers of the countries of the Visegrad Group took place in Prague, dealing with current developments in and the impact of the migrant crisis in Europe. The summit resulted in a Joint Declaration of the Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group Countries, in which the prime ministers of the V4 countries agreed on a common approach to addressing the migrant crisis, and declared their mutual solidarity.

Extraordinary Visegrad Group Summit Aimed at Resolving the Migration Crisis to Be Held in Prague on Friday

An extraordinary summit of the prime ministers of the Visegrad Group countries will be held in Prague in the afternoon on Friday 4 September 2015. The summit has been convened today by Czech Premier Bohuslav Sobotka to tackle the current migration crisis. Ewa Kopacz, Robert Fico, and Viktor Orbán, the prime ministers of Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary, respectively, have confirmed their attendance at the event.

Prime Minister Sobotka today signed a Memorandum with Foxconn – nothing now stands in the way of a billion-crown investment

Shortly after noon today, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Taiwanese company Foxconn, which is planning to invest CZK 2.5 billion in expansion here in the next three years. Another CZK 3.7 billion will be channelled into human resources, thus creating 2,000 new jobs.

Government approves the Czech Republic’s Foreign Policy Concept

On 13 July 2015, the Government approved the Czech Republic’s new Foreign Policy Concept. This strategy document, which is based on the Government’s Policy Statement of February 2014, reflects the transformation of the global world in recent years and also incorporates the priorities of the Government of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka. The Czech Republic’s Foreign Policy Concept defines three global objectives: security, prosperity and sustainable development, and human dignity, including human rights. It also has two national objectives: a service to the public and the reputation of the Czech Republic.

The Prime Minister holds talks with the prime minister of Montenegro on the development of trade relations

On Thursday 2 July 2015, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met Prime Minister Milo Đukanović of Montenegro at the Straka Academy. Their talks centred on mutual cooperation and the development of trade relations. The prime ministers also discussed energy, tourism, Montenegro’s EU accession process and its aspirations regarding NATO membership.
