The Countries of the Visegrad Group Issued a Joint Declaration on the Migrant Crisis
Prior to the today’s European Council meeting in Brussels, the prime ministers of the Visegrad group countries have issued a joint declaration on further EU approach to solve the migrant crisis. The joint document specifies areas which the today’s summit should focus on according to the V4 countries.

Prime Minister Sobotka met with U.S. Vice President Biden in New York
Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomír Zaorálek met with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden at the end of a two-day working visit to New York. The meeting took place after a summit dedicated to the fight against the Islamic State and violent extremism, where Sobotka was invited by U.S. President Barack Obama to represent the Czech Republic.

Prime Minister Attends Two Summits in New York
Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka will attend two international summits held in New York on 28 and 29 September 2015. The events are dedicated to the fight against the Islamic State and to U.N. peacekeeping operations. During his working visit to the city, the Czech premier will symbolically pay tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack of 11 September 2001 at the 9/11 Memorial.

During his official trip to New York, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka paid tribute to Alena Sešínová and Lukáš Rambousek, victims of the terrorist attack on 11 September 2001, by laying flowers at the 9/11 Memorial.

Prime Minister Sobotka: The Czech Republic is a responsible member of the international community
Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka spoke at the UN Summit on Peace Operations during his official trip to the United States. In his speech, he stressed that the Czech Republic stood ready to draw on the experience it had gained from NATO and EU missions in order to help improve the efficiency of UN missions in a way that would not have repercussions for our allied commitments.

On Wednesday 23 September 2015, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka attended a special European Council meeting on the migration crisis. The informal summit of EU leaders in Brussels found common ground on the steps the European Union would take to tackle the roots of the refugee crisis. European partners also established procedure to streamline European rules on migration. Greater EU financial assistance will be channelled into source countries of migration and into improving conditions for refugees.
