Prime Minister Sobotka holds talks with Juncker, the President of the EC, on the EU-Turkey Summit and the Commission’s fight against tax evasion
On Tuesday 23 February 2016, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka talked with Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the European Commission, over the phone. The main topics they touched on were the preparations for the Extraordinary EU-Turkey Summit and the VAT Action Plan, with a stress on the reverse charge.

PM Sobotka holds talks with Georgian PM Kvirikashvili on the development of reciprocal trade and cooperation between Georgia and the EU
On Monday 22 February 2016, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met the Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, at Straka Academy as part of his two-day official visit to the Czech Republic. The main items on the agenda were the development of reciprocal trade and cooperation in the field of investment, relations between Georgia and the European Union, and latest developments in the Southern Caucasus.

V4 countries express their solidarity with the Balkan countries in the handling of the migration crisis
In the second part of today’s Extraordinary Summit of Visegrad Group Countries, the Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia held talks on the current migration situation with the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Boyko Borissov. In their joint declaration, the V4 countries made the commitment to provide further assistance to those contributing to the protection of the external border.

Visegrad Group PMs confirm shared desire to make Europe stronger with Prague Declaration
On Monday 15 February 2016, the Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group countries met in Prague at the invitation of the Czech Prime Minister, Bohuslav Sobotka. At their Summit in Czernin Palace, they commemorated the landmark 25th anniversary of the establishment of close cooperation between the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. They rounded off their meeting by adopting a declaration affirming their commitment to ongoing partnership.

Visegrad Group PMs to discuss common action on the migration crisis with Macedonia and Bulgaria
An Extraordinary Summit of Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group Countries, convened by Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, is to take place on Monday 15 February 2016. At the invitation of Prime Minister Sobotka, the summit will also be attended by Gjorge Ivanov, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, and Boyko Borissov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria.

On Monday 15 February 2016, Prague is to host an Extraordinary Summit of Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group Countries. At the invitation of Prime Minister Sobotka, it will also be attended by Gjorge Ivanov, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, and Boyko Borissov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Prime Minister Sobotka: Czech Republic to provide Syrian refugees with CZK 170 million in aid this year.
On Thursday 4 February 2016, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka attended the Supporting Syria and the Region Conference – the international Syria donors conference in London – at the invitation of UK Prime Minister David Cameron. The conference set out to garner funds underpinning humanitarian aid for Syrian refugees, which will be donated during 2016 by countries from the international community bilaterally and through international organisations.

Extraordinary Prague Summit of V4 countries to be attended by Macedonia and Bulgaria
Besides the Prime Ministers of Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, the Extraordinary Visegrad Group Summit to be hosted by Prague on 15 February 2016 will also be attended by Gjorge Ivanov, the President of the Republic of Macedonia, and Boyko Borissov, the Bulgarian Prime Minister, at the invitation of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka. The migration crisis, including V4 cooperation with the countries of the Balkans, and further opportunities to assist those states currently bearing the brunt of migratory pressures will be central to the Summit’s discussions. Another item on the February Summit’s agenda will be the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Visegrad Group.
