Prime Minister Fiala received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikola Pashinyan, at the Kramář Villa

On Thursday, 4 May, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, received the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikola Pashinyan, at the Kramář Villa. During the meeting, they mainly discussed the possibilities of further trade and economic cooperation and signed a Joint Declaration on bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and the Republic of Armenia, which, for example, mentions a common view on human rights, the rule of law and democratic principles.

Prime Minister Fiala ended his ten-day tour of Asia in Uzbekistan

A visit to Uzbekistan concluded Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s ten-day business trip to Asia. In Tashkent, he met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov. He supported Czech entrepreneurs at a business forum and opened an exhibition on the 20th anniversary of the joint Czech-Uzbek archaeological expedition in Uzbekistan.

Prime Minister Fiala held talks with the Prime Minister and President of Kazakhstan

At the beginning of his visit to Kazakhstan, Prime Minister Petr Fiala met with Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov and President Kasym-Zomart Tokayev in Astana. He then launched the Czech-Kazakh Business Forum. Before his departure, he paid tribute to the women of the USSR’s largest labour camp at the very place that witnessed one of the greatest human tragedies of the 20th century.

Prime Minister Fiala held talks with top Vietnamese officials on strengthening trade cooperation

Vietnam was the fourth country visited by Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala during his business trip to Asia. On Friday, 21 April 2023, he met with Prime Minister Pham Minh Trinh and President Vo Van Thuong in Hanoi. The main topics of the meeting included strengthening defence-industrial and trade cooperation. The Prime Minister also supported Czech entrepreneurs in negotiations with their Vietnamese counterparts at the business forum and on Saturday he visited the construction of a new Škoda Auto factory and its local partner in Quang Ninh province.

Prime Minister Fiala opened a Business Forum in Singapore and met with top constitutional officials

The third stop on the journey through Asia belonged to Singapore. Prime Minister Petr Fiala held talks with President Halimah Yacob, Parliament Speaker Tan Chuan-Jin and his counterpart Lee Hsien Loong. The Prime Minister also opened the Czech-Singapore Business Forum and visited the Singapore Investment Fund GIC.

Government Commissioner Lucie Fuková celebrated International Romani Day at the Castle. With President Pavel and Romani students

President Petr Pavel and his wife, Eva Pavlová, met with the Government Commissioner for Romani Minority Affairs, Lucie Fuková, and Romani students at Prague Castle. Together they celebrated International Romani Day (8 April). The Government Commissioner spoke about the history of Romani emancipation and the importance of education, President Pavel emphasised the need to break down prejudices, and students presented their stories. The Romani anthem was also sung for the first time at the Castle.

Prime Minister Fiala held talks with President Marcos in Manila and supported Czech companies in the local market

On Monday, 17 April 2023, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, began a business trip to Asia in Manila, Philippines. He and President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr. discussed the development of mutual cooperation and trade relations and supported joint projects in the defence industry. The Prime Minister also opened the Czech-Philippine Business Forum, which was attended by more than 100 representatives of companies from both countries, and paid tribute to the memory of José Rizal.

Also this year, the Government Office will open its normally inaccessible buildings to the public

The popular Open Days of historical buildings managed by the Government Office will continue on selected weekends and public holidays in 2023. For the second year, the Straka Academy garden will also be open to the public on weekends.
