Prime Minister Sobotka Attended Czech-Israeli Intergovernmental Consultations on Trade, Security, and Research and Development
Premier Sobotka and a delegation of Cabinet ministers attended the Fourth Intergovernmental Consultations between the Czech Republic and Israel held in Jerusalem on Sunday 22 May 2016. The Czech Prime Minister met with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, President Reuven Rivlin, and Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein. The Czech delegation included some 30 entrepreneurs.

On May 22, 2016, the Governments of the Czech Republic and the State of Israel held the 4th Intergovernmental consultations chaired by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Mr. Bohuslav Sobotka and the Prime Minister of the State of Israel Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu.

Prime Minister Sobotka meets with Hungarian National Assembly chairman Lászlo Kövér
On Wednesday, 27 April 2016, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met at the Straka Academy with Hungarian National Assembly Chairman Lászlo Kövér, who came to the Czech Republic to mark the occasion of the meeting of the chairpersons of the Visegrad countries’ houses of parliament. Prime Minister Sobotka spoke with the chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly about regional cooperation in Central Europe and about the Czech Republic’s current presidency of the Visegrad Group as well as about current European issues.

Prime Minister visits Czech troops in Afghanistan
On the 24th and The 25th of April 2016, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka visited the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Besides meeting with Czech troops serving in Afghanistan as part of the NATO Resolute Support mission, he also met with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and other Afghan government officials.

Fourth Czech-Israeli intergovernmental cooperation to take place this year in Israel
On Sunday, 22 May 2016, members of Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka’s cabinet will meet for intergovernmental consultations with the Israeli government in Jerusalem. This will be the fourth such meeting, which affirms the traditional partnership between both countries. In addition to the prime minister, the Czech government will also be represented by Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek, Minister of Defence Martin Stropnický, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Michaela Marksová, Minister of Health Svatopluk Němeček, Minister of Education, Youth and Sport Kateřina Valachová, Minister for Regional Development Karla Šlechtová, Minister of Environment Richard Brabec and Minister of Culture Daniel Herman.

On Thursday the 21st of April 2016, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met at Liechtenstein Palace in Prague with the ambassadors of countries of sub-Saharan Africa.

The Government agrees with the accession of Montenegro to NATO
On the 18th of April 2016, the Government of the Czech Republic discussed the wording of the Accession Protocol and subsequently recommended to the President of the Czech Republic to empower Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek and two alternates, Deputy Foreign Minister for management of the security and multilateral section Jakub Kulhánek and the Ambassador of Czech Republic to NATO Jiří Šedivý, to sign the Protocol, subject to its subsequent parliamentary approval and ratification by the President of the Czech Republic.

Prime Minister met with the President of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer to discuss transport infrastructure and cross-border cooperation
On Tuesday the 12th of April 2016 in Hrzánský Palace, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met the President of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer, who visited the Czech Republic at the invitation of President Miloš Zeman. Together, they discussed current European issues, the development of cross-border cooperation, transport infrastructure and mutual trade. Another topic of the meeting, which was also attended by Education Minister Kateřina Valachová, was cooperation in the field of education.

B. Sobotka: We have agreed on the development of transport, trade, cooperation in security and improving air quality
On Friday the 8th of April 2016, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and other members of the Cabinet met with members of the Government of the Republic of Poland at the fourth intergovernmental consultations. In Warsaw, they discussed the development of cross-border transport infrastructure, investments and coordination of the presidency of the Visegrad Group.
