The Prime Ministers of the V4 countries agreed on the necessity of continued cooperation in EU-27 and on the future reform of the EU

The Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group countries met in Warsaw on Thursday 21 July 2016 to coordinate the common position of the V4 before upcoming meetings at EU level. The extraordinary summit dealt mainly with the current developments related to the negotiation process of the United Kingdom to withdraw from the EU and with the EU reform. The V4 Prime Ministers urge for the British request to withdraw to be presented without any delay, in order not to prolong the period of uncertainty. The agreement outcome was affirmed in a common declaration by the Prime Ministers.

V4 Prime Ministers issue joint declaration on the future of the EU following the British referendum

The Prime Ministers of the Visegrad group of countries this morning met for their customary coordination meeting before the meeting of the European Council. Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico issued a joint declaration in which they expressed their view on the need for EU reform and for further collaboration between the 27 Member States.

Prime Minister Sobotka attends two summits in China and supports the aviation, healthcare and financial sectors

Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka visited the People’s Republic of China from 16 to 20 June 2016. During his visit, he met with top Chinese officials, including Premier Li Keqiang and also attended the Local Leaders Meeting of 16+1 platform representatives and kicked off the summit of health ministers in Su-Chou and supported priority areas of cooperation between both countries. A total of 22 agreements and memoranda were adopted during Prime Minister Sobotka’s visit. The Prime Minister was accompanied on his visit by Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Michaela Marksová, Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek and Minister of Transport Dan Ťok.

Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka commences the Su-Chou summit of health ministers from the 16+1 countries

On the last day of his working visit to China, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and Chinese Vice-Premier Liou Jen-tung opened the second meeting so far of health ministers from the 16+1 platform. Cooperation in the healthcare sector is playing an important role in Czech-Chinese relations, and medical tourism in particular is actively developing in partnership with the spa sector.

Prime Minister Sobotka supports further development of the Czech-Chinese regional cooperation

On the third day of his working visit to the People's Republic of China, the Czech Prime Minister supported regional cooperation and promotion of Czech culture. Together with Czech Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Michaela Marksová, Prime Minister Sobotka met with the Tianjin Mayor and Provincial Party Secretary Zhejian.

Prime Minister Sobotka meets with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang

On the second day of his working visit to the Chinese People’s Republic, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met the Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang. This was the second meeting of the two Prime Ministers within 7 months, which confirms the special quality of our bilateral relations. During the second day of the working visit Prime Minister Sobotka also visited the Czech Pavilion at a business fair, held talks with the management of the Ershang food company and had a further meeting with the Mayor of Beijing.
