Prime Minister Sobotka: The V4 countries will act jointly and vigorously against dual quality foods in the EU

On Thursday 2 March 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka attended an extraordinary summit of the Visegrad countries in Warsaw. Representatives of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia agreed to adopt a stronger stand against dual quality foods in the EU and drew up a joint declaration for the annual EU summit in Rome on the future of the EU.

Prime Minister Sobotka met with Maltese Prime Minister Muscat to discuss Brexit, the EU summit in Rome and the future of the EU

On Tuesday 28 February 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met in the Kramar villa with the prime minister of the Maltese Republic, Joseph Muscat. The main topics of the meeting were current European issues, Brexit and preparations for the March European Council meeting and the summit in Rome.

The Office of the Government of the CR has entered into close professional collaboration with the Czech Academy of Sciences

On Friday 24 February 2017, the Director of the Office of the Government, Pavel Dvořák and the President of the Academy of Sciences of the CR, Jiří Drahoš, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Office of the Government of the CR and the Academy of Sciences of the CR in the Straka Academy, in the presence of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka. The Memorandum sets out a framework for cooperation between the two state institutions, which are united in their interest in responsible political decision-making and the state’s ability to deal with current and future challenges.

Prime Minister Sobotka received the new ambassador of the Republic of Korea and discussed further options for cooperation between the two countries

On Friday 17 February 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka received the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Czech Republic, Seoung-Hyun Moon in the Straka Academy. The Prime Minister congratulated the new ambassador on his new post, while at the same time praising the current excellent level of Czech-Korean relations.

PM Sobotka received the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Božo Petrov, and together they praised the depth of the relations between both countries

On Monday 13 February 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka received the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Božo Petrov, at the Straka Academy. The topics for the meeting included the future development of bilateral relations and economic cooperation, support for Czech minorities in Croatia and the position adopted by the two countries with regard to EU enlargement to include the west Balkans. They also addressed the consequences of Brexit for the European Union.
