Prime Minister Fiala discussed with President Zelensky further aid and post-war reconstruction of Ukraine

On Friday, 7 July 2023, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, met with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, at the Straka Academy. The Prime Minister confirmed that the Czech Republic will donate more attack helicopters, hundreds of thousands of large-calibre ammunition and will also help train pilots. The two leaders discussed Ukraine's post-war reconstruction and the involvement of Czech companies, the prospects of Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO, and the agenda of the upcoming North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Vilnius. During the visit, the Czech and Ukrainian sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on military assistance.

The Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic and Slovakia held talks in Prague on strengthening defence cooperation and tackling irregular migration

On Tuesday, 4 July 2023, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, received the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Ľudovít Ódor, at the Kramář Villa. The leaders agreed to strengthen defence cooperation on the acquisition of Swedish CV90 combat vehicles. They also discussed migration, the situation in Ukraine and the agenda for the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius.

On 29 and 30 June 2023, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala attended a meeting of the European Council. This time the main topics included migration, Ukraine, external relations and defence, as well as the EU’s strategic communication with China.

Prime Minister Fiala met with V4 Prime Ministers in Bratislava and presented the priorities of the Czech Presidency

On Monday, 26 June 2023, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala attended a meeting of the Prime Ministers of the V4 countries in Bratislava. The leaders discussed migration, the war in Ukraine, cooperation in the energy sector and the challenges of green transformation. The summit concluded Slovakia's one-year presidency of the Visegrad Group, which will be taken over by the Czech Republic from 1 July. The main priorities of the Czech Presidency, which Prime Minister Fiala presented at the meeting, will be a secure and advanced society, an innovative and interconnected economy and support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Fiala attended the European Political Community Summit in Bulboaca near Chișinau

On Thursday, 1 June 2023, Prime Minister Petr Fiala attended the European Political Community (EPC) Summit in Bulboaca near Chisinau, where he held talks with other leaders on the topic of European security. During the summit, the Prime Minister met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. On Friday, 2 June, the Czech Prime Minister met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Recean, and the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu. Discussions with both partners focused on Moldova's integration into the EU, security issues and strengthening economic cooperation.

Prime Minister Fiala held talks with French President Macron and Slovak Prime Minister Ódor in Bratislava

On 31 May 2023, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala met with French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the Globsec international conference in Bratislava. The leaders discussed cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, strategic cooperation, further support for Ukraine and current European issues. Subsequently, Prime Minister Fiala held talks with his Slovak counterpart Ľudovít Ódor. The Prime Ministers discussed bilateral cooperation, especially in the energy and defence sectors, as well as regional cooperation priorities in view of the upcoming Czech Presidency of the Visegrad Group and the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, Ingrida Šimonytė

On Tuesday, 30 May 2023, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, received Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrid Šimonytė in Brno. They discussed economic and military cooperation and the international situation in the run-up to the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius.

Czech and Saxon Prime Ministers signed a Memorandum on Cooperation in lithium production and other strategic projects

Prime Minister Petr Fiala visited Saxony on 16 May 2023. In Dresden, he held talks with Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer, with whom he signed the Memorandum on Cooperation in the implementation of projects of strategic importance. The main topics of the meeting included the common border regime, the preparation of high-speed railway and cooperation in the field of science and research. The Prime Minister also visited Geomet in Dubí, Teplice, which is in charge of the lithium mining project in Cínovec.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala held talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on strengthening energy security

On Wednesday, 10 May 2023, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Prague. The main topics of the meeting were security and defence cooperation, energy security and the situation in Ukraine. The Prime Ministers also discussed their positions on European legislation – especially on EURO 7 and migration.

Prime Minister Fiala attended a meeting of the Bavarian government and discussed with Prime Minister Söder the expansion of cross-border cooperation

On Tuesday, 9 May 2023, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, visited Regensburg, Bavaria. He attended a meeting of the Bavarian state government together with the Minister of Culture Martin Baxa and discussed with the Prime Minister of the Free State of Bavaria, Markus Söder, the expansion of cross-border cooperation, energy security, support for joint research projects and cooperation in the field of hydrogen technology. Together they also opened the regional exhibition “Baroque! Bavaria and Bohemia”.
