The prime ministers of V4 and Benelux countries discussed the future of the EU, the internal market and the defence policy
On Monday, 19 June 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka attended the summit of the premiers of the Visegrad Group and the Benelux countries in Warsaw. The main topics discussed were the future of the European Union, Brexit, the internal market and the free movement of persons and migration. The prime ministers also discussed the common security and defence policy, the Eastern Partnership and the relations with Russia.

Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met the Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans today at the Straka Academy. Their discussions focused on the current European issues, including the preparations for the European Council, the future of the EU and migration.

Prime Minister Sobotka met the Administrative Board of the Czech-German Fund for the Future
On Tuesday, 13 June 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka took part in a meeting of the Administrative Board of the Czech-German Fund for the Future. The Prime Minister attended the regular meeting in relation to this year’s 20th anniversary of signing the Czech-German Declaration, based on which the Fund was established.

On Friday June 9 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka received the Minister of Armed Forces of the French Republic, Sylvie Goulard and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, Jean-Yves Le Drian, in the Straka Academy. Both senior French Government officials attended the Defence and Security Conference Prague: “European Vision. European Responsibility”.

The prime minister met with senior officials from the European Commission and NATO
On Friday June 9 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met with the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker and Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Rose Gottemoeller. The main topics addressed during the working lunch, which took place against the backdrop of the Defence and Security Conference Prague, DESCOP, included cooperation between NATO and the EU, the security of the Union and border protection.

Ministers of the Member States, representatives of the EC and representatives of NATO and the arms industry agreed in Prague to strengthen EU defence
On Friday 9 June, on the initiative of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, the Defence and Security Conference Prague, DESCOP, was held. Member States’ ministers of foreign affairs and defence, representatives of the EU and NATO and members of the arms industry met at the Žofín palace in Prague. The speakers welcomed the current proposals by the European Commission to reinforce EU defences, agreed to strengthen cooperation between the EU and NATO and praised the creation of the European Defence Fund.
