The Czech Republic is an attractive location for Japanese investments
During the second day of the official visit of the Czech delegation to Japan, Minister of Industry and Trade, Jiří Havlíček, and Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka attended a meeting with representatives of JETRO, a Japanese government agency for trading and investment support, as well as the opening of the Czech-Japanese business and investment forum. At a subsequent press conference, Minister Jiří Havlíček informed the Japanese media about the situation in the sectors of the Czech economy and industry and the trends that are attractive to Japanese investors in the Czech Republic. The delegation was accompanied by Karel Kučera, the CEO of CzechInvest Agency.

In Japan, Prime Minister Sobotka discusses cooperation in the economy, culture, transport and international politics with Prime Minister Abe
On Tuesday 27 June 2017, as an opening to his four-day visit to Japan, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka had a meeting with Japan's Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe. The main topic of the meeting was Czech-Japanese cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, the defence industry, transport, science and research. The prime ministers also discussed cultural cooperation and international issues, including support for the EU-Japan Free Trade Agreement. Prime Minister Sobotka arrived in Japan 12 years after the last official visit to the country was made by the Czech Prime Minister.

European statesmen have supported free trade and continued assistance to North African countries in combating illegal migration
During the second day of the European Council meeting, the heads of states and prime ministers of the EU member states discussed the economic issues in the light of the internal market, free trade and industrial policy. Migration and the digital agenda were also discussed.

EU leaders discuss the steps to strengthen European security and the conditions of relocation of Union agencies from the UK
The first European Council meeting was held in Brussels on 22 June 2017. Heads of states and prime ministers of the EU countries today discussed internal and external security co-operation and the EU's external relations. Afterwards, the European statesmen gathered in the EU27 format and addressed the Brexit negotiating process and the conditions of the member states' candidacies for the relocation of Union agencies from Great Britain.

Prime Minister Sobotka and 16 other European statesmen call for greater emphasis on digital agenda at the European summits
Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, together with representatives of 16 other EU member states, called upon Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council, to reaffirm the digital agenda as the EU's political priority. The topic that will be addressed by the European Council in June is one of the key tasks of the current Czech government.

Prime Minister Sobotka debated in Brno with premiers of Austria, Mr. Kern, and Slovakia, Mr. Fico
On Thursday, 22 June 2017, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Bohuslav Sobotka, met the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico, and Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, Christian Kern, in Brno. The main topic of the second summit in the so-called Slavkov format was a detailed discussion of the work plan for 2017, which includes a specific cooperation between these three neighbouring countries in the fields of transport, dual education, power engineering, Industry 4.0 and EU affairs.

Prime Minister Sobotka installed new Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Stanislav Štech
On Wednesday, 21st June 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka inaugurated the new Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Stanislav Štech, who was earlier appointed by the President of the Czech Republic at the Prague Castle. Stanislav Štech will replace Kateřina Valachová.

The prime ministers of V4 and Benelux countries discussed the future of the EU, the internal market and the defence policy
On Monday, 19 June 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka attended the summit of the premiers of the Visegrad Group and the Benelux countries in Warsaw. The main topics discussed were the future of the European Union, Brexit, the internal market and the free movement of persons and migration. The prime ministers also discussed the common security and defence policy, the Eastern Partnership and the relations with Russia.
