Prime Minister Sobotka talked with Jordanian Prime Minister Al-Mulki on safety and trade cooperation, migration crisis and power engineering

On Tuesday, 22 August 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met with the Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Hani Fawzi Al-Mulki. In the Straka Academy, they discussed the development of commercial cooperation, the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, safety and defence cooperation, and Jordan’s support in coping with the migration crisis. The meeting was attended by Minister of Defence Martin Stropnický. Jordanian Prime Minister visited the Czech Republic for the first time ever.

Prime Minister Sobotka honoured the victims of the Romani Holocaust in Hodonín near Kunštát

On Sunday, 20 August 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka honoured the memory of victims by laying the wreath in the place of the mass grave at the sites of the former Roma camp in Hodonín near Kunštát. This year, it has been 74 years since the dispatch of the transport of men, women and children from the camp to the Auschwitz – Birkenau extermination camp.

Prime Minister Sobotka talks with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on cooperation in security, science and health

At the end of the Summit of the Visegrad Group Prime Ministers in Budapest on Wednesday, 19 July 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu. It was already the fourth personal meeting of the two Prime Ministers.

The Visegrad Group and Israel have discussed cooperation in the economy, migration, terrorism and the peace process

The prime ministers of the Visegrad Group countries, including Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, continued on Wednesday, 19 July 2017, in a summit meeting in Budapest with a joint negotiation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The main topics of the discussion included relations between the European Union and Israel and the fight against terrorism.

V4 Prime Ministers discussed mutual trade and security situation with President of Egypt

The V4 summit of Visegrad Group Prime Ministers, including Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, continued in Budapest in the afternoon of Tuesday, 4 July 2017, with the participation of the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The main topics of their meeting included the relations between the EU and Egypt, new security challenges, as well as economic cooperation. Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka also discussed economic and scientific cooperation with Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán.

V4 Prime Ministers discussed the EU future and further migration policy steps

On Tuesday, 4 July 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka took part in a summit of Visegrad Group Prime Ministers. The topics included current European issues in the light of June’s European Council, the revision of the Posting of Workers Directive and the proposal for the European Pillar of Social Rights. Prime Minister Sobotka also met Mr Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, who is a guest of the second part of the summit.

PM Sobotka: The CR has a great potential to boost significantly its cooperation with Japan in trade, investment, as well as new technologies

During his four-day official visit to Japan, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, President of the Lower Chamber of Japanese Parliament, Tadamori Oshima, and Crown Prince, Naruhito. He discussed a cooperation enhancement in trade, investment and new technologies with the managements of Asahi Breweries and Shimadzu. At the end of his official visit to Japan, Prime Minister Sobotka paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.

In Kyoto, Prime Minister Sobotka and the management of Shimadzu discussed strengthening Shimadzu’s technological cooperation with the Czech Republic

Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka has been on his official visit to Japan for a third day. Today in Kyoto, the Prime Minister met the management of Shimadzu, a company manufacturing state-of-the-art technological, medical and laboratory equipment, lasers and aviation equipment.

He opened a Czech-Japanese business and investment forum in Tokyo this morning, lectured at Josai University, and met Crown Prince Naruhito and Tadamori Oshima, President of the Parliament's Lower Chamber. At the end of the day, Prime Minister Sobotka spoke with the management of Asahi Breweries and other leading companies.
