Prime Minister Fiala holds talks with French President Macron on cooperation in energy, defence and support for Ukraine
On Tuesday 5 March, Prime Minister Petr Fiala met with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Straka Academy. The leaders discussed strengthening cooperation in nuclear energy, defence cooperation and support for the Czech initiative to supply ammunition to Ukraine from third countries. They also signed the Action Plan for the Strategic Partnership Between the Czech Republic and France for 2024-2028.

Prime Minister Fiala holds talks with Angola’s President Lourenço at the Kramář Villa
On Wednesday 21 February 2024, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, welcomed the President of Angola, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, at the Kramář Villa. The key topics of the meeting were economic cooperation, support for Czech exports and investments, and defence-industrial cooperation.

27 February 2024: Meeting of the V4 Prime Ministers
On Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, will meet and negotiate with the Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group countries – Donald Tusk, Robert Fico and Victor Orbán - at the Liechtenstein Palace. This working meeting will focus mainly on the energy security, the strategic agenda of the EU, the prevention of illegal migration or further support of the International Visegrad Fund.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala receives Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament
On Wednesday 14 February 2024, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, received the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, at the Straka Academy. The topics of the meeting included strategic priorities for the next five years, the future of the European Union, but also the current situation in the agricultural sector and the support of Czech citizens in the European institutions.

Speech by Prime Minister Fiala at the meeting with members of the diplomatic corps
Prime Minister Petr Fiala and members of the government met with representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to the Czech Republic. The traditional New Year's meeting was held on 6 February 2024 in the Liechtenstein Palace. The Prime Minister delivered a speech on this occasion.

Petr Fiala after the extraordinary European Council meeting: The agreement on the EU budget contains all the important priorities for the Czech Republ
EU leaders approved an increase in funding to fight illegal migration, new investment in defence and EUR 50 billion for Ukraine over the next four years. The presidents and prime ministers of the EU countries agreed unanimously. They returned to the debate on the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027 after the negotiations were suspended at the December meeting. The leaders agreed on a limited and targeted revision of the budget, which will increase by EUR 21 billion overall.

Prime Minister Fiala holds talks in India on expanding scientific research cooperation
At the end of his working trip to India, Prime Minister Petr Fiala visited Rajasthan on Thursday 11 January 2024. He and a number of Czech scientists and academicians visited the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMS) of Jaipur University, where he met with the school management and academicians, and discussed the development of joint research projects and the expansion of cooperation between universities and research institutions. During the visit, the Prime Minister received an honorary doctorate from NIMS University.

Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic and India agree on a strategic partnership focusing on innovation
From 9 to 11 January 2024, Prime Minister Petr Fiala visited India, where he addressed the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit investment conference in Gandhinagar. He also met with his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, with whom he discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations, the development of trade and cooperation in the energy sector and joint scientific research projects. The two leaders also agreed to enter into a strategic partnership focusing on innovation.

The European Council decides to open accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova
At the European Council meeting on Thursday 14 December 2023, the EU leaders agreed to launch accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova. At the same time, they granted Georgia the status of candidate country. The EU will open negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina as soon as the necessary degree of compliance with the membership criteria has been achieved. Before the European Council meeting, the leaders held a joint summit with representatives of the Western Balkan countries.
