Government to send social services staff three million respirators

At an extraordinary session on Tuesday, 3 November 2020, Andrej Babiš’s government approved the provision of three million FFP2 respirators from the state’s material reserves to staff of residential social services and care services. The respirators will be provided free of charge. A million pairs of protective gloves are to be sent to French health workers to help with the coronavirus pandemic.

Government discussed the regular testing of clients and employees of social care institutes, professional athletes can start training

Clients and employees of homes for seniors and the disabled, respite care and long-term care facilities will have to undergo regular testing for the Covid-19 disease. At the government meeting on Monday, 2 November 2020, the government approved their regular testing using antibody tests. It also passed a change to the crisis measures to enable training and, under strict conditions and the approval of hygienic stations, games for professional athletes.

Government extends state of emergency and all current crisis measures until 20 November

State of emergency in the Czech Republic to remain in force until 20 November. Based on the earlier consent of the Chamber of Deputies, the Government at an extraordinary meeting on 30 October 2020 has decided on an extension of three weeks. At the same time, with minor changes and additions, it has also extended all the crisis measures that were due to expire on Tuesday, 3 November.

Government to propose to Chamber of Deputies extension of state of emergency until 3 December

The government is to ask the Chamber of Deputies to give its consent to an extension of the state of emergency for another 30 days, i.e. until 3 December. It discussed the draft proposal at an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday 27 October 2020, and deputies should rule on the extension on Friday 30 October.

Government extends Antivirus B programme for aiding employers through to the end of the year, also announces further crisis measures

Starting Wednesday 28 October, a night-time curfew will go into effect in the Czech Republic aside from strictly designated exemptions. Sunday shopping will be prohibited with certain exceptions and shops will have to close at 8 pm every day. The Andrej Babiš government announced these and other tightened restrictions following a meeting on Monday 26 October 2020.

The Cabinet gives a green light to the deployment of military medical personnel from EU and NATO countries in Czech hospitals

As many as 300 military medical personnel from EU and NATO countries will be available to assist in Czech health facilities in the event of an emergency. Their presence in the Czech Republic has been approved by the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.

Government decides to further tighten preventive measures against the spread of Covid-19

As of Thursday, further, stricter preventive measures against the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus will come into force in the Czech Republic. Based on unfavourable growth numbers for the Covid-19 disease, the government of Andrej Babiš announced these following an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday, 21 October. There will be a fundamental restriction on retail sales and services, the activities of public authorities and on the free movement of the population.

Government approves draft state budget for 2021 and takes further measures to support the economy during the pandemic

The Czech Republic to run a deficit of 320 billion crowns next year. The relevant bill on the state budget of the Czech Republic was adopted by the government of Andrej Babiš at a meeting on Monday, 19 October 2020. At the same time, the cabinet supported other measures in order to help, for example, audio-visual artists, travel agencies and guides and investors overcome this difficult period of the coronavirus pandemic. People will also not have to go to public authority offices so often when arranging benefits.
