On Friday, 17 December 2021, the newly appointed Government headed by Petr Fiala met for the first time in Straka's Academy. The new cabinet designated Vít Rakušan as the first Deputy Prime Minister, appointed a new head of the Office of the Government and also a new Government spokesperson.

Václav Smolka appointed as the new spokesperson of the Government

At its initial meeting on 17 December 2021, Petr Fiala's cabinet appointed Václav Smolka as the new Government spokesperson. Smolka has come to the Office of the Government from the position of the spokesperson of the Civic Democratic Party.

The Third Prague 5G Security Conference has ended

One of the world's biggest cybersecurity events has ended. Due to the pandemic measures, the event, organized by the National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and under the auspices of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, was held mainly online and partly at the O2 Universum in Prague. The conference focused on issues related to the security of 5G networks and the so-called Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDTs). The two-day event was concluded with a speech by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jakub Kulhánek and the Director of NÚKIB Karel Řehka.

The Government Decides to Proclaim a State of Emergency for 30 days, Limit Mass Events, Restaurants Operation or Alcohol Consumption in Public

On Thursday, 25 November 2021, the resigned Andrej Babiš’s Government decided at a meeting to proclaim a state of emergency in the Czech Republic from 12:00 am on 26 November 2021 for 30 days. At the same time, it approved crisis measures, which tightened the conditions for the operation of certain services and for holding mass events. It also decided to declare a work duty for health professionals.

Government agrees to tighten anti-epidemic measures due to the spread of the more contagious Delta mutation of the coronavirus

As of 9 July, the recognition of infection-free status after the first dose of a two-dose vaccine will no longer apply in the Czech Republic. The rules for entering the Czech Republic will also be tightened. On Thursday 1 July 2021, Andrej Babiš's government approved the modifications to the emergency measures. It also discussed other forms of aid to people and companies affected by the natural disaster in South Moravia and the Ústí nad Labem Region.
