In Brussels, the Prime Minister participated at the EU summit and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)

On Wednesday, 14 December, the Prime Minister Fiala participated at the EU summit and ASEAN in Brussels. On behalf of the European Union the Prime Minister Fiala signed the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with Malaysia and Thailand, which will set the conditions for even closer cooperation between the European Union and these countries in a number of areas. During the summit, the Prime Minister also held a number of bilateral meetings with top leaders of Southeast Asian countries.

Prime Minister Fiala participated at the conference on Ukraine’s resistance in Paris In Luxembourg he then opened the Václav Havel street

On Tuesday, 13 December 2022, Prime Minister Petr Fiala participated in Paris at the conference on Ukraine’s resistance ‘‘We stand behind the people of Ukraine’’ The aim of the statesmen meeting was to summarise the current damage caused by Russian air strikes throughout Ukraine, to mobilise financial and material assistance for the urgent needs of the country and to prepare it for the coming winter, including the reconstruction of critical infrastructure, especially energy infrastructure. In the French capital, the Prime Minister then visited the European Space Agency and met with its Director General, Josef Aschbacher. In Luxembourg the Prime Minister ceremoniously opened the Václav Havel street and was received by Henri I., the Grand Duke of Luxembourg.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s speech at the conference on Ukraine’s resistance in Paris

On 13 December 2022, Prime Minister Petr Fiala presented the speech at the conference on Ukraine’s resistance ‘‘We stand behind the people of Ukraine’’. In particular, he emphasised the need to continue to support a fighting Ukraine in all areas, from military aid through humanitarian assistance to economic aid.

Prime Minister Fiala attends meeting of EU and Western Balkan leaders in Tirana, Albania

On Tuesday, 6 December 2022, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala attended a summit of EU Member States and Western Balkan countries in Tirana, Albania. The main topics of the meeting included cooperation in the energy sector in the context of the Russian war in Ukraine, the fight against illegal migration and deepening the integration of the Western Balkans into the European single market. The leaders also made progress in aligning the visa policies of the Western Balkan countries with those of the EU. During the summit, the so-called Tirana Declaration was adopted.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala meets with UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin

On 23 November 2022, Prime Minister Petr Fiala met with Aleksander Čeferin, President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), and Petr Fousek, President of the Football Association of the Czech Republic (FACR). The meeting with top football officials was mainly about the “sports and society” model of sports and football in Europe and the cooperation of football associations with the government and the European Union.

NOTICE, 16-18 November, 2022: International Conference - Russia's Hybrid War Against the Democratic World

Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, Platform of European Memory and Conscience, Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and The Twentieth Century Memorial Museum are co-organizing a conference Russia's hybrid war against the democratic world. A challenge for a European remembrance policy, to be held on 16-18 November 2022 in the Liechtenstein Palace in Prague, on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Velvet Revolution in former Czechoslovakia. The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala will attend the conference on Thursday, 17 November 2022.
