Andrej Babiš's government appoints its First Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Government Office and a new spokesperson at its constituent meeting
On Monday, 15 December 2025, Andrej Babiš's government held its constituent meeting at the Straka Academy. It appointed the First Vice-President, a new Head of the Government Office and the Government Spokesperson and decided, among other things, that the regular cabinet meetings would be held on Mondays.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister visited the Gustave Roussy Institute, a leading oncology centre.

On Thursday, 12 February 2026, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, attended the informal European Council meeting at Alden Biesen Castle in Belgium. The discussions centred on soaring energy prices, the EU’s stagnating competitiveness, and the removal of internal market barriers. The leaders debated how to jump-start the European Union's economic growth, following presentations by Mario Draghi and Enrico Letta, who authored comprehensive reports for the European Commission in 2024 on competitiveness and the single market.

On Wednesday, 4 February 2026, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš held talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome. The main topics of the meeting included boosting Europe’s competitiveness, migration, defence and energy cooperation, and economic ties. The leaders agreed to draft a Cooperation Action Plan between the Czech Republic and Italy for the years 2026–2030. The Prime Minister also invited the Italian Prime Minister to the Czech Republic. The Czech Prime Minister then met with Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini.

European Council discusses transatlantic relations and expresses solidarity with Denmark
On Thursday, 22 January 2026, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš attended an informal meeting of the European Council in Brussels. The main themes were the latest developments in transatlantic relations, including the question of Greenland and the formation of the Peace Council, an initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump At the meeting, EU leaders reaffirmed their solidarity with Denmark. Before the start of the deliberations, Prime Minister Babiš also met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, with whom he discussed the strengthening of European competitiveness and other issues.

Prime Minister Babiš in Bratislava: We will resume the joint meetings of the Czech and Slovak governments
On Thursday, 8 January 2026, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, made his first foreign trip to Slovakia, where he met his Slovak counterpart, Robert Fico, in Bratislava. The leaders agreed to resume the intergovernmental consultations between the two countries, with the first joint meeting of the Czech and Slovak governments tentatively set to take place in the Czech Republic at the end of March. Other important topics of the meeting included energy prices, European competitiveness and support for affordable housing. The Czech Prime Minister also met with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini and the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Richard Raši.

Prime Minister Babiš after the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing: The ammunition initiative can continue as long as other countries fund it
On Tuesday, 6 January 2026, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, attended a meeting of the leaders of the so-called Coalition of the Willing in Paris. The meeting was attended by representatives of 37 states as well as the US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The leaders discussed the so-called Paris Declaration, which spells out the security guarantees to be granted to Ukraine following the ceasefire. Prime Minister Babiš stressed that the Czech Republic has reservations about some points of the declaration and does not envisage sending troops to Ukraine. He also confirmed that the Czech ammunition initiative can continue on the condition that it is funded by other countries.
